Before becoming a board certified and licensed EMT, I worked as a phlebotomist at a bustling downtown hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Amidst the nurses, medical tools, and technology, I sensed a missing element—not just within the hospital but also among the patients: spirituality. The absence of acknowledgment for gratitude and love toward people, procedures and the healing experience itself created a somber atmosphere within the hospital.
One particular encounter shifted my perspective. I entered a room and immediately felt a brighter aura. Engaging with the patient, a pastor, and his wife, I discovered his immense gratitude for being there and his appreciation for our presence. While I had been in rooms with pastors before, this instance was different; his overwhelming gratitude and love seemed to transform the room's atmosphere even before we spoke about his profession. As he left after a few days, I began noticing other rooms and patients devoid of this acknowledgment, leading to prolonged hospital stays.
This realization deeply affected me, inspiring a vision for therapy that prioritizes gratitude, love, and medicine. Recognizing the profound healing properties of water and its life-sustaining elements, I envisioned a holistic approach to healthcare centered on these principles.
